Senior Sales Manager (Mining)

A leading global industrial solutions provider is seeking a Senior Sales Manager – Mining & Minerals to accelerate growth within an underpenetrated market in Indonesia. This role combines hands-on sales hunting with segment strategy, requiring someone who can identify opportunities, engage directly with end customers and manage the complete sales journey from initial opportunity development through to closure. What you'll do: As Senior Sales Manager – Mining & Minerals, you will combine strategic segment leadership with hands-on commercial execution. You will be expected to understand what is happening at customer and site level, identify opportunities early and personally drive priority pursuits through the sales cycle. A major focus will be improving the quality of pipeline forecasting. Rather than simply receiving forecasts from distributors, you will validate opportunities directly with customers, understand the commercial process and maintain visibility from initial opportunity creation through to order closure. Develop and execute the commercial strategy for the Mining & Minerals segment, balancing short-term sales delivery with long-term market development. Act as a sales hunter, actively identifying white-space opportunities, new customers, projects and applications within the mining and minerals ecosystem. Build and maintain a qualified sales pipeline with clear opportunity value, probability, timing, decision-makers and next steps. Own forecasting accuracy by validating opportunities directly with customers and understanding the full sales process from initial engagement through to closure. Develop direct relationships with mining companies, site operators, contractors, OEMs, EPCs and other relevant stakeholders to uncover opportunities before they reach the distributor stage. Personally lead strategic and high-value pursuits rather than relying solely on distributors to manage customer opportunities. Manage relationships with distributors, while working alongside the relevant distributor management and commercial excellence functions. Assess distributor effectiveness and identify opportunities to improve coverage, customer engagement and commercial performance. Work with Application Engineering, Customer Service and regional/global technical experts to develop solutions that address customer reliability, maintenance and operational challenges. Translate technical and operational customer needs into commercially compelling solution propositions. Coordinate multiple stakeholders across customers, distributors, contractors, OEMs and internal teams throughout complex sales cycles. Map mining groups, sites and applications to identify opportunities for account penetration and market expansion. Establish structured routines for pipeline reviews, forecasting, account planning and opportunity management across the segment. Develop repeatable approaches to new-business development that can be adopted by the wider sales organisation. Spend significant time with customers, sites and partners to develop market understanding and ensure opportunities are actively progressed. What you bring: To succeed as Senior Sales Manager – Mining & Minerals, you will bring proven experience in B2B sales and business development within Mining, Minerals or related industrial markets, combined with the commercial discipline required to manage a complex sales pipeline. The ideal candidate is not simply an account manager. You are a hands-on hunter who is comfortable opening doors, developing relationships directly with end customers and taking ownership of opportunities throughout the sales cycle. You understand that good forecasting comes from knowing the opportunity and customer—not simply accepting a distributor's projection. Proven experience in sales, business development or segment management within Mining, Minerals or related heavy industries. Demonstrated ability to generate new business and open previously underpenetrated accounts or markets. Strong sales-hunting mindset, with a track record of personally developing opportunities rather than relying entirely on existing channels. Strong forecasting and pipeline-management capabilities, with the ability to assess opportunity quality, probability, timing and next steps. Proven ability to manage opportunities end-to-end, from identifying the initial customer need through to negotiation and commercial closure. Experience selling through distributors while maintaining direct relationships with end customers. Ability to understand and manage complex distributor ecosystems and identify opportunities to improve channel effectiveness. Strong customer-facing skills with the confidence to engage site-level and senior decision-makers. Experience coordinating multiple stakeholders including customers, distributors, contractors, OEMs, EPCs and technical teams. Strong technical-commercial understanding and ability to translate customer operational challenges into solution-based propositions. Ability to build segment strategies based on market intelligence, customer needs, competitive activity and commercial potential. Strong commercial discipline around account planning, pipeline reviews, forecasting and opportunity qualification. Resilient and persistent approach to long-cycle B2B sales and complex project development. Willingness to spend significant time in the field with customers, sites and partners. Strong English communication skills are advantageous for regional and global stakeholder engagement.
